GLENDALE, CA. Celebrate Earth Day with The Adams HIll Neighborhood Association. Festivities will take place on Saturday April 23, 2023 at Adam's Square Mini Park from 12pm-2pm.
Activities will include arts and crafts activities for children such as bird ornament making and an Earth Day plate making. We will also have speakers on environmental issues present for a Q&A and literature from local environmental organizations. Garbage pickers and bags will be provided to those who want to clean the park or neighborhood. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
This event is a follow up to the past butterfly gardening event and a reflection of the Adams Hill neighborhood’s collective interest in the environment and wellbeing of the planet.
People planning to attend can RSVP to AdamsHillEvents@gmail.com.
This event is free and open to the public. Please note parking in Adams Hill is limited so ride-sharing, walking and biking are highly recommended.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Adams Hill Neighborhood: Adams Hill is unusual in Glendale as it bears a physical resemblance to the densely built up, hilly neighborhoods of Los Angeles that surround it, such as Silverlake, Eagle Rock and Atwater Village. It is often described as Glendale’s most eclectic neighborhood.
Adams Square Mini Park:
The Adams Square Mini Park at 1020 E. Palmer was opened in 2007 by the City of Glendale in an effort to create a green space in the center of the Adams Square business district for the densely populated surrounding neighborhood. The park incorporates a historic Streamline Moderne Gas Station building which has been a community fixture since 1936. This gas station structure is now a designated historic landmark maintained by Glendale Community Services and Parks. It has been adapted for reuse as an art exhibition space curated by the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission.
Adams Hill Neighborhood Association:
AHNA is a volunteer non-profit 501(c)4 organization serving the residents and merchants of the Adams Hill neighborhood in Glendale. Further information is available at www.adamshill.org, IG: @adamshillglendale, Twitter @AdamsHillCA and Facebook @adamshillneighborhoodassociation.
